This client is within the public sector and offers some great services to the New Zealand public. The client is looking for an experienced assistant accountant to join the financial team on a fixed term contract.

The role will entail providing professional accounting services to the finance team, such as financial reports, working papers; the maintenance of the general ledger including balance sheet reconciliations and chart of accounts, cash management and tax compliance. The role will assist in ensuring that all statutory and taxation compliance requirements are met as well as treasury reporting.

The following skills and experience is desirable:

  • Month end journals
  • Balance sheet and reconciliations
  • Financial reporting
  • Taxation
  • Cash management
  • Internal Controls & Balance Sheet Analysis
  • Positive relationship Management
  • Great communication skill, both written and verbal
  • Competence in financial accounting practices and procedures
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • Attention to detail

Previous public-sector experience in a similar position is desirable but not necessary.

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months with potential to go permanent for the right candidate.
