If you are a passionate leader with a drive to see New Zealander’s arrive home healthy and safe
and you bring extensive experience in either:

- Designing or operating plant or processes within the High Hazard industries, or
- Regulating, or advising on, the safety of high hazard processes then this could be the next challenge you are looking for.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of High Hazards, Energy and Public Safety and leading a team of 3-5 managers, your role will encompass everything from:

- Leading the High Hazards sector to achieve and sustain high standards of risk management
- Supporting managers, inspectors and support staff within the High Hazards team
- Corporate management to ensure consistent and proportionate regulations across the sectors
- Resource management to support the system target and
- Planning and monitoring the High Hazards team to ensure annual plans can be developed, monitored and delivered

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll also:
- Be appointed as a WorkSafe inspector or be willing to study towards qualifying as an inspector
- Bring significant management and leadership experience of a team or teams delivering challenging objectives
- Be able to analyse complex technical, legal and management information to deliver effective solutions
- Be experienced working across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver co-ordinated outcomes

Our newly created Chief Inspector High Hazards role in our Operations group has the important
brief of delivering the system target of zero catastrophic events in New Zealand’s high hazard
industry. To support this target, the Chief Inspector will lead WorkSafe’s operational and regulatory Igh Hazard activities and ensure the High Hazard inspection teams achieve high levels of technical and regulatory competence.
