The Auckland property market makes nationwide headlines daily. The attraction of New Zealand was the strong economy, good property offerings. Overseas investors are capitalising on these market conditions to create new projects. This role exists as a direct result of the current growth in the commercial development market.

A high performing and preferably self sufficient Development Director is sought for this high profile client. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large or small scale apartment or mixed use development projects from inception through to completion. You will be making an excellent career move into a financially stable, award winning company responsible for delivering successful projects.

The role will include but not limit to:

As a Development Director you will assist with the delivery aspects of the respective development with accountability and responsibility for the master planning, consenting, design management, development and financial control, project management, marketing and sale of commercial project within approved limits, as assigned by the Project Leader / Development Director.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the entire development process and have all of the same attributes as a good developer, including the ability to coordinate and motivate a diverse team of professionals and external consultants.

You will be ultimately accountable for the entire project budget at the end of the day. Be able to foresee potential risks and challenges, as well as opportunities to maximise the profits of a project.

To be considered for this position you need to demonstrate:

  • At least 5+ year property development experience in NZ real estate industry
  • Proven experience in acquisition, planning, development and financial control management from initial land search to land acquisition to its completion.
  • Capable of working under time pressure and comfortable with working across multiple projects.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience in delivering large complex projects
  • A high degree of self discipline and dedication to work
  • Mandarin speaker is preferred
