Are you looking for the chance to have a real impact upon the business strategy of a key governmental department, providing financial leadership and advice on the long-term financial planning process?

Randstad has a brand new opening for you to work as a Finance Business Partner, assessing the commercial viability of investment decisions in order to provide financial advice and guidance for the department’s overall strategy.

By looking for cost saving and cost extraction opportunities, you’ll be able to maximise investment return and budget allocation, with overall responsibility for more than half of the department's overall budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective integration of planning processes and financial input, developing a robust business plan and financial strategy in order to meet short, medium and long term business needs.
  • Plan and manage resources in line with strategic priorities by using innovative financial and non-financial solutions to achieve overall commercial viability of investment decisions.
  • Improve the quality of management decisions to ensure that their business strategy is delivered in a sustainable way within an acceptable level of risk.
  • Play a leading role in protecting, growing and optimising the business’s assets, whilst supporting the effective delivery of insights, analysis and reporting across the country.
  • Champion innovation through adding value to the finance and planning processes alongside identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service consistency.
  • Adopt a customer focussed approach and perspective in order to deliver on the business customer’s strategic direction whilst providing feedback to the business on financial performance, focussing on key drivers.


  • 7+ years commercial or public sector experience in relevant professional positions.
  • Proven ability across planning, budgeting, investment analysis, cost management and productivity and business case writing.
  • Significant and proven experience of building business relationships in order to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Strong change leadership experience.
  • CA Qualification
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree
