I am looking for talented, experienced and passionate Finance Manager who is tertiary qualified in Commerce/Finance/Accounting with at least 4-5 years of experience and available immediately.

The role has two main functions;

  • to lead and manage the finance team, and
  • to oversee the financial operations/policy for the department while providing advice to the department manager and the lead team to make better investment decisions and support growth.

A key area of focus for this position is to drive and implement commercial thinking to meet the needs of the department. This position forms a key part of the Management team this department and is responsible for providing meaningful reliable information to support the team in making informed proactive decisions regarding the operation of the business. The finance team will affect every part of this department and will require the development of close relationships with internal customers. This role will also be responsible for producing high quality annual planning financial information that is on time, and can feed into draft and final planning documents, whilst providing the department with advice on compliance, control standards and identification of control issues for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial and Business Planning

  • Deliver budget advice to Departmental Managers, proactively follow-up common budget issues and ensure actions are in place to progression resolution of issues
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the department budget is completed on time and to quality standard and ensure appropriate models and documentation is kept to support the approved budget.
  • Develop and improve key non-financial performance measures and targets
  • Coordinate departmental financial and non-financial input into the development of Annual Plan
  • Deliver financial modelling and analysis for investment and change proposals, and requests for unbudgeted expenditure and reallocation of budgets.

Financial and Business Performance

  • Lead, design, and implement the end-to-end monthly performance reporting process which engages the department
  • Lead and implement forecast processes for operating budget, CAPEX, and key performance measure results taking into risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve results
  • Lead the department's effort to identify savings and efficiencies and implement and track progress
  • Provide finance representation of key capital and operational projects
  • Provide financial advice and analysis to support key contract negotiations or other commercial agreements
  • Provide performance insights and adhoc analysis to support decision-making and actions to improve financial performance results

Team Management

  • 6 direct reports
  • Ensure all staff have a clear understanding of and follow all Health and Safety legislation, policies, plans, guidelines and objectives
  • Effectively manage workloads and workflows to ensure business continuity, workloads are equitable and team objectives met

Experience and skills

  • Good business acumen and proven ability in identifying the key external and internal drivers of business success
  • Track record for challenging existing standards and costs for services through effective performance management processes and best values principals.
  • The ability to manage and motivate a team
  • High degree of communication skills, particularly attuned to working well with non-finance professionals and volunteers
  • Experience in planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Used to working in fast moving environments providing accurate and timely information to a high standard
