About the Role - Housing Navigator

We have multiple permanent Housing Navigator positions available within the Korowai Manaaki Team.
Korowai Manaaki is a housing service that provides support to whanaunga by facilitating the transition of referred whanaunga through transitional, emergency or public housing. This includes wrap-around support for whanaunga including creating whānau plans, advocacy and connecting whānau to life skills services that support future housing aspirations and their ongoing well-being and needs. You will need to have great administrative skills and attention to detail as this role requires a lot of admin work.
Position details
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm. Please note on occasions you may be required to work outside of these hours, depending on the support needs of whanaunga
- Starting from $60,060 annually (depending of qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity)
A day in the role
- Assessing housing needs and preferences of whanaunga
- Wrap around support and guiding /pathway planning with the whanaunga
- Managing your own case load daily
- Connecting with whanaunga face to face weekly
- Connecting whānau to life skills services (financial, schooling, official documentation)
- Assisting with housing applications and documentation
- Advocating for whanaunga housing rights and needs
- Supporting whanaunga with transitional, emergency and public housing
- Managing administrative tasks and creating reports
- Tenancy management
We are seeking a Housing Navigator who -
- Prides themself on their ability to work to a whānau first, tikanga based, wellbeing approach
- Has a understanding and empathetic mindset in supporting whanaunga
- Works to a holistic approach to wellbeing
- Is great at working methodically and making things happen by using initiative
- 1-3 years working in a kaupapa Māori environment
- At least 5 years of experience in social housing
- A level 7 or above qualification, te reo Māori, tikanga Māori or readiness to study towards these qualifications
- Have evidence of being fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19
- Have a full drivers licence
- Have proof of your right to work in New Zealand (One year minimum)
