job description

The centre:

This montessori centre based in Birkenhead is looking for an experienced montessori trained Head Teacher to step into their open role to support the small teacm of 4 teachers. This centre is a beautiful and unique centre licensed for 30 children and runs at around 95% capacity. The reason this centre is unique is because of the onsite Art Studio they have. Every day groups of upto 6 children a day are taken to the Art Studio to take part in activities, projects and get their hands dirty! This centre is a gorgeous villa that has been converted into a spacious, light and bright space for children to learn in a montessori enviornment.

The role:

This centre has opening hours of 8.30am - 4.30pm and the Head Teacher stepping into this role would be working very attractive hours of 8am until 4pm each day. You will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Committment to Tangata Whenuatanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership in New Zealand
  • Use inquiry, collaborative problem-solving and professional learning to improve professional capability to impact the learning and achievement of the each learner
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships and behaviour focused on the learnng and wellbeing or each learner
  • Develop a culture that is focused on learning and is characterised by respect, inclusion, empathy, collaboration and safety
  • Design learning based on cirriculum and pedagogical knowledge, assessmen information and an understanding of each learner's strengths, interests, needs, identities, languages and cultures
  • Teach and respond to learners in a knowledgeable and adaptive way to progress their learning at an appropriate depth and pace
  • Ensuring teachers are upto date with story park
  • Organise attestation forms
  • Overseeing the observations from teachers and ensuring they are upto date
  • Coordinating relievers when needed
  • Overseeing timesheets
  • Forming and maintaing relationships with children, parents, whanau and the community

About you:

  • You will have proven strong montessori experience and leadership experience
  • You will be motivated, empathetic and committed to the Montessori educational philosophy
  • You will have your Level 7 ECE Teaching Certificate and NZ Teachers Registration
  • You will have relevant professional experience in assessment, planning and evaluation, internal evaluation and personal growth
  • Satisfaction in growing and developing others in a culture of high achievement and fun
  • Comfortable with technology and willing to explore new ways of doing things
  • You will be motivated, enthusiastic and committed to the montessoru educational philosophy
  • You will have a resilient, calm, friendly and empatheic personality with a dose of curiosity and can-do attitude
