Are you an accomplished policy professional ready to drive significant strategic change within a leading Government organisation? Our Client is establishing a dedicated team to spearhead a critical transformation initiative, and we are seeking an experienced Policy Advisor to join this program. This is an intial 6 month hourly rate contract with the potential to extend.
The Opportunity
This role is central to managing the policy implications of a large-scale institutional reform. Your primary accountability will be to identify and update institutional learning policy in response to current organisational changes.
Key Contributions
You will be responsible for high-impact deliverables, ensuring the successful transition to the new framework:
- Lead efforts in defining complex policy problems, drafting new policy documents, and developing proposed policy pathways for executive approval.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing authoritative policy guidance related to organisational training, education, and enabling mechanisms.
- Support the organisational transition by implementing a detailed transition plan to achieve a steady state for institutional learning frameworks and doctrine.
- Develop and execute communication plans essential for engaging senior stakeholders and supporting effective, informed decision-making.
What You Bring
We are looking for a candidate with proven expertise and high-level analytical capabilities:
- Proven experience in a policy-related position, specifically in a government setting, with a strong track record of writing policy and preparing sound policy advice and regulatory analysis.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills are essential.
- Requires excellent oral communication and the sophisticated ability to simplify and articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Necessary familiarity with governance and project generation processes within a large organisation, coupled with experience navigating legislative change environments.
- The role is located in Wellington or Manawatu and reports directly to the Capability Integration Lead (CIL).
- Must successfully obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance.
