Randstad is working exclusively in partnership with a well known and iconic New Zealand business to grow their Commercial Procurement capability. A new structure will optimise the delivery of the various corporate services functions and support the business in their endeavours to be a best in class procurement function and strengthen their vendor relationships within the categories.

About the role

In this critical leadership role reporting to the Head of Commercial Procurement, you will take accountability for understanding and driving the commercial and economic performance within Corporate Services procurement. This organisation emphasises collaboration with their business partners, which means you’ll be embedded within the various teams to truly understand their environment, what they’re trying to achieve and how you can support them. This will be achieved by ensuring the integration of strategic and hands-on management of the People and Communications, Business Advisory, Marketing, Risk and Property & Office Support teams with the procurement and contract management functions.

As the Senior Commercial Manager for corporate services you will:

  • Contribute to the organisation’s long-term investment plan and cost reduction strategies and the total cost of ownership.
  • Lead the development of a supplier strategy and associated frameworks and methodologies and performance measures
  • Drive savings through rationalisation and optimisation of supplier arrangements
  • Work in collaboration with another Senior Commercial Manager focussing on technology to own and drive the commercial strategy moving forward.
  • Coach and develop a commercial specialist also focussing on corporate services.

Skills and experience

  • An in-depth understanding and demonstrated experience of commercial procurement processes
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of procurement and contracts management, including legal risks
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of business economics modelling, analytics tools and methodologies
  • Strong commercial acumen in disciplines surrounding procurement and business engagement
  • Broad knowledge across a number of disciplines including People and Communications, Business Advisory, Marketing, Risk and Property & Office Support and their business practices and systems
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
  • An attitude of evolution within a business focussed on embedding a change philosophy around performance
