Randstad is working exclusively in partnership with a well known and iconic New Zealand business to grow their Commercial Procurement capability. A new structure will optimise the delivery of ICT services, strengthen their vendor relationships within the ICT Category.

About the role

In this critical leadership role reporting to the Head of Commercial Procurement, you will take accountability for understanding and driving the commercial and economic performance of technology procurement within the business. This is a strategic role that drives organisational collaboration between different business units. It involves working within the various technology teams to truly understand their environment and what they’re trying to achieve and helping them get better value for money in their decision making. This will be achieved by ensuring the integration of strategic and hands-on management of the ICT procurement and contract management functions.

As the Senior Commercial Manager for technology you will:

  • Contribute to the organisation's long-term investment plan and cost reduction strategies including the total cost of ownership
  • Lead the development of a supplier strategy and associated frameworks and methodologies and performance measures
  • Drive savings through rationalisation and optimisation of supplier arrangements
  • Work in collaboration with another Commercial Specialist focussing on technology to own and drive the commercial strategy moving forward.
  • Line management of a Commercial ICT Specialist- driving activities related to a different ICT portfolio to the Senior Manager.

Skills and experience

  • An in-depth understanding and demonstrated experience of commercial procurement processes
  • Sound knowledge, understanding and experience with ICT procurement and contracts, including legal risks
  • Experience in business economics modelling, analytics tools and methodologies and the use of these in procurement
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen in disciplines surrounding procurement and business engagement
  • Experience in ICT environments, business practice and systems
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
  • An attitude of evolution, improvement and agility within a business focussed on embedding a change philosophy around performance
