Senior Security Architect - Auckland

About the company & role

This business is already a household name in the Kiwi market and are continuing to grow and further their market share. From a strategic perspective, they have heavily invested into their technology capabilities as a way to better understand their customers and improve business performance and efficiency.

This newly created role is part of their global Security Team. Reporting directly to the Head of IT Digital Security, you will work closely with the other members of the Security team and other business units to design security controls and solutions for one or more functional area (e.g., data, systems, network, and/or applications) across the digital enterprises.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Produce security solution architecture designs and perform security design reviews.
  • Guide and assist in the production of Cyber Security strategy.
  • Provide security architecture guidance to various projects with a mixed deployment model (mainly cloud with some on-premise).
  • Produce security design that meets business requirements and is compliant with cyber security policy and standards.
  • Consulting services on architecture and design of solutions.
  • Work with IT department and members of Group IT Cyber Security team to identify, select and implement technical controls.
  • Collaborate on critical IT projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Work with Cyber Security Leadership team to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks and develop security awareness programs.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of information security and architecture
  • Experience in IT Service Management with a focus on security applications
  • Broad knowledge/confidence of a number of Security applications and tools.
  • Previous experience managing a product engineering team is preferred.
  • Managing and prioritising teams working to a backlog.
  • The ability to work in both a team environment and independently
  • Experience in operating and managing security systems such as; Networks, Endpoints, Log management, and Content Filtering.
  • Polished communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
