senior strategic modeller in Wellington Central

Randstad has a new and unique opportunity for 2019, to work as a Strategic Business Modeller, playing a pivotal role in the long term strategic planning of a well known organisation.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for developing organisational models in order to quantify and evaluate the strategic direction of the organisation for long term financial planning, taking in to account risks, economic indicators and new initiatives.

Duties:

• Carry out statistical tests and build/update financial models in order to provide insight into trends and patterns for long term strategic financial planning.
• Develop and maintain financial models, encompassing treasury management, capital expenditure and budgeting in order to support strategic decision making.
• Create a foundation for long term projections by utilising historical financial information for the organisation, whilst ensuring that the data used is adequate and accurate through establishing procedures and building in error checks and controls.
• Advise on financially unsustainable scenarios and areas of risk to key stakeholders to the business by undertaking hypothesis testing, comparing the projected outcomes of various scenarios.
• Monitor actual outcomes relative to model assumptions in order to determine relevant strategies and areas of improvement for the business.
• Act as a subject matter expert for the business in relation to high quality and timely business modelling advice, with the ability to translate complex data in to simple and easy to understand advice.

Key Requirements:

• Strong and in-depth financial modelling experience
• A strong understanding of financial accounting standards within a government environment.
• Proven experience in designing, building, populating models and using financial modelling tools.
• Proven ability to think in a strategic way, taking a holistic view.
• Relevant tertiary Qualification eg. Finance or Accounting.
