About the Role
The position of a committed and passionate Kaitautoko Team Leader to join their Mental Health Residential Service has become available.
This service is specifically designed to provide support to individuals over an extended period, with the goal of transitioning them towards semi to fully independent living. Position Details
Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. (However, please note that there may be occasions where you will be required to work outside of these hours, depending on the support needs of whanaunga.)
The starting salary is $74,802 per annum, and it may vary depending on qualifications and experience, in accordance with pay equity.
A Day in the Role
- Supervising and guiding the team
- Coordinating schedules
- Organising professional development training
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback when necessary
- Maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, problem-solving and handling complex situations
- Monitoring the quality of care provided for whanaunga
- Supporting and motivating team members,
- Continuously seeking opportunities for improvement
This role requires someone who takes pride in their ability to work with a whānau first, Tikanga-based, wellbeing approach. They must be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of our whanaunga and have an understanding mindset while empowering individuals. They should also be able to maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations and work towards a holistic approach to wellbeing. Good communication skills and appropriate language usage are essential in fully understanding the needs of the whanaunga. A reasonable level of computer literacy is also necessary to complete case notes and other electronic documents.
You should also have 1-3 years of experience working in a Kaupapa Māori environment and at least 5 years of management experience. A level 7 qualification in mental health and addiction or higher, te reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, or a willingness to study towards these qualifications is also required. Excellent interpersonal skills and established relationships in the mental health sector are a plus. A solutions and strengths-based management style, outstanding report writing and data management skills, and availability for flexible working hours are also important qualities for this role.
