Technical Lead – Linux Platform - Auckland (North Shore)

About the Company

Due to a new product line and an increase in connective display feature research, this international engineering business with a presence on almost every continent on the planet are now looking for a Technical Leader to head up their Linux Platform team based on Auckland’s North Shore. They design and develop some of the most advanced electrical and navigation equipment available on the market within their space and have a very strong, respected global brand where innovation is key to their success.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary development team to produce detailed work backlogs and delivery estimates for all Linux Platform projects and track the delivery against plans.
  • Line management duties of the Linux Platform team and provide technical guidance and mentoring.
  • Manage risks and communicate any deviances to the project stakeholders.
  • Hands on development within the Linux Platform including creation of system architectures and detailed designs.
  • Manage resourcing conflicts and project deadlines

Experience & tech skills needed:

  • Strong knowledge developing with OO principles in an OO language.
  • Strong knowledge developing with C or C++ and Bash/ash shell scripting, preferably targeted at embedded platforms.
  • Experienced working in a lead role within a development team
  • Familiar with planning and delivering software projects.
  • Experience of low level (kernel) debugging.
  • A good understanding of electronic hardware design.
  • Experience with Qt on an embedded platform.
  • Experience with developing software for Embedded Systems, ideally Embedded Linux.
  • A passion for the marine industry and an interest in marine electronics.
