IDT develops and manufactures nucleic acid products that support the life sciences industry. Areas of focus include academic and commercial research, agriculture, medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical development and synthetic biology.

IDT are currently seeking an experienced Technical Sales Representative for a position based in New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity to join the company who are growing rapidly.

The Position

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for the promotion and sales of IDT’s full portfolio of custom oligonucleotide solutions across key application areas such as Next Generation Sequencing, Synthetic Biology, and qPCR.

The role is a mixture of new business development and key account management, so you will need to be pro-active to grow your customer base and your business with current accounts.

  • Organising meetings with key potential customers and stakeholders to introduce your products and the business
  • Building relationships with key contacts to drive business sales
  • Full account management responsibilities for existing customers and key accounts
  • Growing revenue within existing accounts through outstanding service
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records
  • Completing sales reports as required
  • Developing and executing a business plan and sales strategy for your territory
  • Creating and executing an effective call cycle to ensure sales opportunities are not missed
  • Preparing proposals and presentations

The Candidate

As this is a technical sales role, all candidates must possess the following:

  • A minimum tertiary qualification of Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable life sciences discipline such as Biotechnology, Biology, Genetics, etc.
  • Masters or PhD are highly desirable but not essential
  • At least two years in a customer relationship management position
  • The ability to work autonomously and self manage
  • Drive, ambition and the will to succeed
