Imagine you are on the frontline, reducing serious harm and fatalities by engaging, enforcing and educating workplaces as a Health and Safety Inspector for Worksafe. How would it feel to be at the center of making sure a forestry worker goes home to their family harm free? Or for a factory worker to be able to work in an environment free from life threatening hazards? Surely you would want to be the one who is instrumental in effecting this kind of change. About the role:

WorkSafe New Zealand is now hiring full time permanent Health and Safety Inspectors (Investigations) for roles in Auckland Central.

WorkSafe is the Government’s health and safety regulator charged with leading the biggest shakeup of health and safety in a generation. We’re seeking like minded people who are truly passionate about changing the way all Kiwis’ view health and safety and making sure harm, injuries and fatality rates reduce.

As a Health and Safety Inspector, you will be dealing with people from all walks of life. Communication is key to success – whether you are dealing with a CEO of a large multinational or the worker on the frontline, the message remains the same – we want to get everyone home healthy and safe. This is an enforcement position, so ideal for those people who are calm, composed and resilient. It also goes without saying, you will also need bring a high level of integrity, this cannot be turned off like a light switch when you finish for the day, as well as excellent judgment and decision making skills.

What experience do you need?

The fantastic news is that you do not need any prior experience or qualifications in Health and Safety, investigations or audits to be successful in this role. If you have developed the traits and qualities we are looking for, and you have a genuine passion to safeguard the health and well being of the kiwi people, you are perfect for this position.

Speaking a second language (especially Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean or Tagalog) is desirable, but it is not essential.

The must haves:

  • Be a NZ Citizen or hold NZ Permanent Residency.
  • Have a full drivers licence with an ability to drive a manual car.
