Whittakers NZ - The makers of New Zealand’s Favourite Chocolate are looking for a new Procurement Manager in Wellington.

This role to begin with is a three month contract with possibility to be extended or made permanent. It is a crucial role in the organisation, managing the Procurement process and Supply Chain management.

The position involves:

Sourcing

  • Lead supplier selection, performance and development
  • Assess suppliers capabilities and qualifications
  • Undertake supplier audits in conjunction with the Quality team
  • Work with New Product Development (NPD) and Quality teams to ensure all suppliers and raw materials are fit for purpose and meet Whittaker’s requirements and budget
  • Source raw materials to meet product brief
  • Develop RFP’s / RFI’s,
  • Ensure Whittaker’s ethical, quality and sustainability requirements are met

Supply Chain

  • Analyze, plan and manage flow of materials to meet production schedules
  • Ensure materials requirement planning (MRP) is fully optimized and maintained
  • Develop demand planning and minimum order level requirements based on sales and production forecasts ensuring sufficient raw material and packaging coverage
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding order delivery dates and obtaining credits if required
  • Maintain a schedule of committed raw material contracts for input into the cash flow forecast
  • Manage quality deviations, non-compliance & insurance claims
  • Provide forecasts to all assigned suppliers
  • Communicate material or supply changes
  • Determine optimal inventory levels
  • Manage material life cycle
  • Identify and put in place action programs to drive supplier performance
  • Ensure supply chain security and contingency plans in place to cover material requirements

Procurement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all key suppliers
  • Undertake price audits on all approved / new suppliers
  • Ensure raw materials and packaging material are trialed and full specification provided and recorded
  • Streamline supply of Raw materials and delivery timing with suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements relating to the supply of all raw materials, packaging, and point of sale items
  • Assist the Finance Manager with verifying/explaining significant cost movements in Bill of Materials costs or analyzing significant stock take variances
  • Prove the weighted average cost of significant raw material items is calculated correctly
  • Proactively identify cost saving projects and assist in realizing savings
  • Manage Commodity forecasts and purchasing, analyzing forecasted consumption of individual stock components and future requirements
