We are seeking an experienced AI Data Engineer to take on a senior role within our data team in Wellington. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of modern Large Language Models (LLMs) and a strong background in data engineering to make a significant impact.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of data engineering and modelling concepts, data pipeline development, and data quality best practices.
- Provide leadership and expertise in leveraging AI to enhance data capabilities
- Proven experience in data product development on Snowflake, from raw data ingestion through to the creation of business and analytical models (e.g., dimensional models).
- Solid understanding and practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git.
- Experience with various data ingestion and ETL tooling.
- Excellent business-facing communication skills with the ability to effectively translate business reporting requirements into technical solutions.
- A strong understanding of data engineering principles, data modeling, data pipelines, and data quality is essential.
- Strong understanding of modern Large Language Models (LLMs) and how to integrate them into processing pipelines.
- Experience with fine-tuning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches, prompt engineering, and optimising for compute time and caching.
- A strong grasp of current LLM model strengths, applications, and the processes involved in productionising and integrating these models into a variety of applications.
- Snowpro Core Certified ( will be advantageous)
