ABOUT THE ROLE

The AI Practice Lead will drive the safe, ethical, and productive adoption of AI to enhance service delivery and organisational outcomes. You will provide expert leadership, mature AI practices, manage governance, and align initiatives with government guidelines. This role acts as a bridge between technical and business teams, ensuring AI use is innovative, secure, and user-centric.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead AI strategy and governance while aligning with government frameworks and use policies.
• Collaborate with business teams to identify and execute AI solutions for complex problems.
• Mature the AI practice by embedding it into existing assurance processes and roadmaps.
• Drive organisation-wide AI awareness, education, and upskilling initiatives.
• Ensure AI risk frameworks and guidelines are consistently applied and monitored.
• Build strong stakeholder engagement to co-design technology services.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Expertise in AI (LLMs or Data) and their ethical application.
• Have worked directly with business teams to successfully build and deploy AI capabilities.
• Significant experience driving digital strategy and architecture
• Proven experience in implementing or maintaining AI governance, processes, and operating models within a complex environment.
• Experienced in driving cultural change and process transformation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust with senior leaders, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Understanding of cross-cultural issues and commitment to Treaty of Waitangi principles
