About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Wellington. In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing the commercial elements of complex ICT initiatives, providing strategic oversight across programmes, projects, and systems. You’ll head a team and serve as the primary commercial point of contact.

Your focus will be on the full commercial lifecycle of high-value, strategic ICT contracts — from shaping sourcing strategies and vendor selection through to performance oversight and contract closure.

You’ll operate as a key commercial advisor, responsible for driving strong commercial outcomes. In addition, you’ll support business units by developing sound contractual arrangements, managing critical supplier relationships, and clearly communicating any contractual shifts or emerging opportunities. You’ll also play a key role in resolving complex contractual issues, working in partnership with business leads, vendor managers, and legal teams.

What we are looking for

• Over 15 years of professional experience in commercial roles, showcasing comprehensive expertise across the entire procurement lifecycle within significant, intricate environments.
• Demonstrated history of success leading commercial efforts for strategic ICT initiatives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, effective across various professional settings.
• Prior experience collaborating with major suppliers, vendors, and diverse external stakeholders and clients across both government and private sectors.
• Proficiency in the application and principles of government procurement regulations.
