We are seeking an accomplished Renewable Energy Commercial Advisor to join a major public sector organisation on a 6-month initial contract.
In this role, you will provide strategic commercial, financial, and transactional guidance to support the planning and implementation of sustainable energy and infrastructure solutions across government facilities. You will work closely with senior executives and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-value outcomes aligned with national sustainability and energy targets.
This position offers competitive market hourly rates and flexible hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Advisory: Provide expert commercial guidance on renewable energy projects, including technology adoption, infrastructure upgrades, and commercial structuring.
- Procurement & Contracting: Support end-to-end procurement processes, evaluating market models (e.g., PPAs, lease arrangements, EPC contracts) and assisting with contract negotiations.
- Financial & Risk Analysis: Evaluate commercial proposals, conduct financial modeling assessments, and identify key commercial risks to ensure value for money.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal public sector leaders, industry partners, and external consultants.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure all commercial activities comply with public sector procurement guidelines, sustainability policy frameworks, and relevant legislation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Commercial Advisor, Procurement Lead, or Commercial Manager within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or utility sectors.
- Demonstrated experience developing or advising on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), distributed energy resources, or energy management contracts.
- Strong background operating within or consulting to large public sector / government departments.
- Excellent financial acumen, risk assessment skills, and commercial negotiation capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex commercial terms for executive decision-makers.
