We are seeking a Senior Automation Test Engineer to join a fast-paced, collaborative Agile environment within a leading enterprise platform delivery team. This is an exciting contract opportunity based in either Auckland or Christchurch, working on critical systems within the insurance domain.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, enterprise-level applications across claims, policy, billing, and document management systems. It is ideally suited to someone with deep automation expertise and a passion for mentoring others.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks using BDD tools such as Cucumber.

• Write and maintain reusable automated test scripts using Ruby and Selenium.

• Apply context-based and risk-based testing approaches across both API and UI layers.

• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure effective test planning and execution.

• Conduct automated testing for both functional and regression coverage.

• Support test integration within CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git.

• Mentor junior and mid-level testers and help uplift testing practices across the team.

• Contribute to continuous improvements in test strategy and documentation using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Key skills and experience:

• Experience as a Senior Testing Specialist in complex enterprise environments.

• Strong hands-on experience with BDD frameworks, particularly Cucumber.

• Proven automation testing experience with Ruby and Selenium. Experience with Java or Python is also highly regarded.

• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and version control systems like Git.

• Comfortable working in Agile delivery environments and familiar with modern QA practices.

• Experience with insurance systems including claims, policy, billing, and document management along with a background in coaching or mentoring junior testers, is highly desirable.
