ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, management, and optimisation of the production AWS environment. This role is crucial for maintaining security, governance, and high availability. You will advance the DevOps maturity using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and focus on databases (PostgreSQL) and security practices. This role involves working within a cross-functional team, managing projects end-to-end, and communicating roadmaps clearly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, manage, and optimise highly available AWS production environments, including EC2, Fargate, VPC, and S3.
- Drive automation and maintain infrastructure using IaC tools like AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Lead PostgreSQL administration, tuning, and support for geospatial extensions (PostGIS).
- Manage security best practices, AWS IAM, network isolation, and Microsoft Entra ID integration.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines with Python automation.
- Implement cross-region disaster recovery and manage AWS cost optimisation.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience designing and managing AWS production environments (e.g., EC2, Fargate, RDS PostgreSQL, IAM).
- Solid understanding of DevOps, implementing CI/CD, and Python scripting for automation
- Experience supporting AWS AppStream and Workspace environments for application delivery
- Strong PostgreSQL administration, including tuning, replication, and PostGIS
- Ability to develop and communicate clear technical roadmaps
- Experience with geospatial software systems (CARIS, ESRI, QGIS, or similar)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Experience working in agile with understanding of ITIL practices and service management frameworks
- Background in hydrographic, maritime, or geospatial domains.
