Senior Project Manager - Contract role
Our client is looking to hire a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for the smooth delivery of a nation-wide solution. This will be a Wellington based contract role initially till June 2026 with a possible extension.
Successful candidates will have…
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to navigate complex multi-agency relationships and ensure alignment across diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience coordinating complex, multi-stream programmes. Experience supporting customer-facing programme transitions or large operational rollouts is beneficial.
- Ability to operate across strategic and tactical levels, ensuring smooth coordination of programme activities and workstreams.
- Skilled in supporting governance requirements, preparing documentation, and enabling effective decision-making processes.
- Competence in tracking and reporting on risks, issues, budgets, and variances throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Maintains calm and focus under pressure, especially in fast-paced or high-stakes environments.
- Adaptability – comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving programme needs.
- Discretion and professionalism – trusted to handle sensitive information and high-level communications with care.
- Initiative and proactivity – anticipates needs, takes ownership, and solves problems before they escalate.
- Strong communication skills – clear, concise, and confident in both written and verbal interactions across diverse stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft suite, with MS Project and Planview experience also advantageous
