ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll be tasked with supporting Command, Control and Intelligence products. This role involves regular preventive maintenance, incident/request support, and managing ITSM workflows. You'll also be leading and supporting other engineers in these activities. A key part of the job is engaging with end users and businesses, which requires the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The role involves performing regular preventative maintenance tasks (daily, weekly, monthly), as well as providing incident and request support and management.
• A key task is managing ITSM (IT Service Management) workflows.
• The role will be responsible for supporting automation and other continuous improvement activities.
• The role includes leading and supporting other engineers in delivering the above-mentioned activities.
• The position requires regular engagement with end users and business representatives, with the responsibility of translating complex technology into clear and concise communication.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in several key areas

• You should have experience supporting both end users and business representatives, managing and responding to incidents and requests, and completing routine maintenance tasks.
• Experience with vitalised Windows server environments (2008R2-2016) is required, including accessing, managing, and administering virtual Windows server operating systems across multiple environments.
• Experience with Linux server administration, maintenance, and patching, predominantly with Red Hat 6.
• Knowledge and experience in controlling and protecting information for a Government agency are required, along with an understanding of Government legislation and policy (e.g., PRA, PSR, NZISM).
• Experience with SAFe or a similar agile framework is a must.
• Ability to communicate effectively using technical language within the engineering practice and simplify complex technical details for end users.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper-V is essential.

To be considered for this role, you must be able to maintain a minimum of; TOP SECRET and preferably a TOP SECRET SPECIAL security clearance. This is a mandatory requirement for the position.
