Enterprise Planning and Implementation is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen planning, coordination, and implementation across the organisation, particularly to improve how work is prioritised, sequenced, and supported through to delivery.
The Business Intelligence team plays a critical role in supporting WorkSafe’s regulatory functions by providing high-quality analysis and reporting, identifying risks and trends, and delivering insights that inform safer outcomes across Aotearoa.
Working alongside a wide range of stakeholders, the team provides specialist intelligence support that helps identify risks, uncover connections, and inform evidence-based decisions.
About the role / Ō te tūranga
As a Business Intelligence Analyst or Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you'll use data and insights to help drive informed decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll deliver high-quality business intelligence solutions, provide expert analysis and advice, and ensure consistent, efficient, and effective BI practices. Combining strong analytical skills with business understanding, you'll identify opportunities for improvement, solve complex problems, and contribute to better business outcomes through data-driven insights.
Senior Role Scope: In addition to the core responsibilities, the Senior role will lead more complex analytical projects, provide strategic influence to senior leadership, and take a primary role in mentoring other analysts to elevate the team's overall capability.
What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi
- Produce strategic, operational, and tactical business intelligence products to support organisational priorities and work-related health activities
- Analyse and integrate data from multiple sources to identify trends, risks, and insights that inform decision-making and evaluation work
- Support the application of the intelligence cycle by providing technical expertise in intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable intelligence sharing, coordination, and integration across functions
- Deliver analysis and advice for projects and initiatives, ensuring requirements and risks are clearly documented
What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Proven experience using data and analysis to generate meaningful insights that support business decision-making
- Experience analysing data and information from multiple sources to generate insights that inform organisational or operational decisions
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders to gather information and deliver coordinated intelligence outputs
- Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams
- Strong expertise in SQL coding and Power BI, with proven experience developing and maintaining impactful dashboards. Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate is preferred
- Nice to have experience: Experience with Crystal Reports and/or financial reporting skills
Additional skills required for Senior role:
- Demonstrated experience providing leadership, guidance, or mentoring within an analytical or intelligence environment
- Proven ability to influence senior decision-making through the delivery of high-impact strategic products
- Strong understanding of intelligence analysis methodologies and practices in a regulatory or public sector context

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for the Business Intelligence Analyst positions is $87,604 - $114,398 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional).
The full salary range for the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst position is $120,551 - $158,328. From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.
