Our client, a large and complex public sector organization based in Wellington, is seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract (through to July 2027 - $125,926 to $156,377). You will be responsible for the overall technical support, enhancement, and maintenance of the cloud environment. You will provide technical leadership for large-scale data initiatives, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, developers, and external vendors to ensure alignment with technical governance, security, and financial processes.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

• Engineering Background: Significant experience as a Data, Platform, Site Reliability, or DevOps Engineer within complex cloud environments.
• Data Platforms: Strong database or data engineering expertise in platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, SQL Server, or MongoDB.
• CI/CD & IaC: Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep).
• Analytics Tools: Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools, specifically Power BI, Tableau, or SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Enterprise Architecture: A solid understanding across multiple technology layers, including data, integration, security, and infrastructure.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage, advise, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
