What You'll Do
As a Senior Claims Specialist, you'll play a key role in delivering an exceptional claims experience. You will manage a varied portfolio, assess policy coverage, investigate claims, and negotiate resolutions with empathy and professionalism. You will report directly to the National Claims Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage your own portfolio of financial lines or general liability claims through to resolution.
- Determine policy coverage, investigate, and evaluate assigned cases.
- Provide technical expertise and mentoring to assist the development of less experienced Claims Officers.
- Set reserves and authorise payments within the scope of authority.
- Implement strategies to minimise Claims Costs and Leakage.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders through clear and timely communication.
- Oversee the litigation process in collaboration with our Legal Panel (as part of managing your portfolio).
- Identify suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims and take appropriate action.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Claims Specialist within the insurance industry. You are a problem-solver who can collaborate effectively and is committed to continuous professional development.
To be eligible for this role, you should have:
- Fundamental knowledge of the insurance industry and claims processes.
- Essential - experience handling financial lines and/or general liability claims (or potentially a Law Grad with experience in insurance law).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, capable of providing clear and timely information to all stakeholders.
- Strength in collaboration and supporting other viewpoints – a true team player.
- Ability to problem-solve, resolve conflict, and influence others.
- Competence in relevant Claims Systems is preferred.
- A Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience is preferred.
