Azure Infrastructure Engineer - Fulltime - Onsite based in Auckland (Hybrid)
We are seeking a skilled Azure Infrastructure Engineer for a full-time, permanent opportunity with a leading enterprise client in Auckland. This business is focused on digital transformation and requires a specialist to maintain resilient, high-performing physical, virtual, and End-User Computing (EUC) environments.
This is a deep technical role that sits at the core of the business operations.
About the Role:
The primary focus is to design, build, and maintain the underlying software, application, and components that enable the digital products to operate reliably and securely. This includes operating platforms, building scalable products, and improving delivery efficiency through modern practices.
Key Responsibilities include:
...- Platform Operations: Operating and supporting platforms and products, while managing their lifecycle.
- Design & Compliance: Ensuring design, implementation, and scalability are fit for purpose and compliant with standards.
- Collaboration: Working effectively in cross-functional teams, including VS, CoE, vendors, and partners.
- Service Improvement: Seeking out and implementing new practices, tools, or approaches to proactively improve platform and innovation capability.
The Technical Mandate (Infrastructure Engineering Focus):
This role requires a proven hands-on expert in managing complex hybrid infrastructure.
- Physical Hardware: Proven experience managing and maintaining physical servers, storage systems, and network devices. Ability to handle troubleshooting, upgrades, and configurations.
- Operating Systems: Extensive experience with Windows Server, Linux/Unix systems, including installation, configuration, and patching.
- Hypervisor Layer: Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, including setting up and managing virtual machines and networks.
- End-User Computing (EUC): Strong background in managing EUC environments, including desktop virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix), and endpoint management.
- Automation: Scripting and automation for OS management (Powershell for Windows, Bash for Linux) is highly advantageous.
Key Skills Needed (Advantageous Exposure):
- Familiarity with data centre operations, lifecycle management, monitoring, and management tools.
- Understanding of storage and network.
- Knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles and practices.
