Azure Network & Platform Engineer - Fulltime - Auckland (Onsite)
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Network & Platform Engineer for a full-time, permanent opportunity with a leading enterprise organisation in the Fintech sector in Auckland. This organisation is committed to digital transformation and requires a specialist to design, secure, and maintain their core Azure networking infrastructure and associated cloud-native platforms.
This is a deep technical role that sits at the core of the organisation's modern cloud operations and governance strategy.
About the Role:
The primary focus is to design, build, and maintain the underlying Azure networking topology and the platform components that ensure the organisation's digital products operate reliably, securely, and scalably within the Azure ecosystem. This includes enforcing governance through Azure Policies, managing the core networking fabric, and supporting their Red Hat OpenShift container environment.

... - Azure Networking Design: Architecting and implementing secure, highly available network solutions utilizing VNets, ExpressRoute, Front Door, and NSGs.
- Platform Governance: Designing and implementing robust Azure Policy definitions for compliance, security, and cost control across multiple subscriptions.
- Cloud Operations & Lifecycle: Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Azure Virtual Machines and key platform services, including provisioning, backup, and subscription management.
- Container Platform Support: Collaborating on the network and infrastructure requirements for the organisation's Red Hat OpenShift container environment.
- Service Improvement: Seeking out and implementing new native Azure practices, tools, or approaches to proactively improve network performance, security, and delivery efficiency.
- Collaboration: Working effectively in cross-functional teams, including the organisation's internal teams (VS, CoE), vendors, and partners.
The Technical Mandate (Azure Network & Platform Focus):
This role requires a proven hands-on expert in managing complex Azure environments, with a strong emphasis on network infrastructure and governance.
- Azure Networking Infrastructure: Proven expertise in designing and implementing Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), VNet Peering, Subnetting, and implementing Network Security Groups (NSGs).
- Global Connectivity & Security: Strong experience with Azure Front Door, Load Balancers, Application Gateways, and setting up hybrid connectivity (VPN/ExpressRoute).
- Azure Governance & Compliance: Hands-on experience defining, deploying, and managing Azure Policies and Blueprints to enforce security and resource standards across subscriptions and management groups.
- VM & Compute Management: Deep understanding of Azure Virtual Machines (Infra VMs) lifecycle management, including provisioning, configuration, security patching, and Azure Backup services.
- Container Platforms: Experience working with or providing infrastructure support for Red Hat OpenShift clusters. Knowledge of native Kubernetes networking is beneficial.
- Automation: Scripting and automation for infrastructure deployment, preferably using PowerShell or Bicep/ARM Templates/Terraform.
Key Skills Needed (Advantageous Exposure):
- Familiarity with Azure Cost Management and optimization practices.
- Understanding of DevOps tool chains and CI/CD processes specific to infrastructure deployment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles and practices.
