About the Role

I am seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our team in Wellington. In this strategic role, you will act as a trusted advisor to Deputy Chief Executives (DCEs) and their leadership teams, providing high-level financial guidance, insights, and support to ensure operational objectives are achieved within legislative requirements.

You will embed yourself within executive leadership teams to help leaders understand cost drivers, evaluate implementation plans, and make informed financial decisions. Additionally, you will lead a small team of Management Accountants delivering accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Partnering: Provide financial advice, run business case scenarios, and model options to inform operational decision-making and strategic priorities.
• Leadership & Team Management: Direct and mentor a small team of Management Accountants to ensure high quality financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Capability Building: Coach and upskill senior leaders and budget managers across the organisation on financial policies, budgeting tools, and risk management.
• Financial Governance: Lead month-end disciplines, variance analyses, and identify financial risks and opportunities to keep senior executives safe.
• Relationship Management: Build strong, collaborative relationships across business groups and central oversight bodies.

Key Requirements

• Chartered Accountant (CA) status with CAANZ (or equivalent professional body).
• Extensive experience delivering strategic financial advice and analytical insights within large, complex organisations.
• Proven track record leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing finance teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to constructively challenge senior leaders.
