Are you an experienced Senior Data Engineer looking to create meaningful impact through your next contract? We're seeking someone to support a leading Auckland-based organisation that plays a vital role in community and economic development.
You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing scalable data pipelines and enterprise data solutions across the Azure Cloud Platform, with exposure to Snowflake, dbt, or Databricks.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing and building robust and scalable data pipelines using Azure tools and modern data stack components.
- Working with cross-functional teams including data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure effective data flow and quality.
- Creating and optimising ETL/ELT workflows and data models in support of analytics and reporting.
- Implementing medallion architecture patterns and ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance.
- Supporting predictive and prescriptive data initiatives by preparing clean, well-modeled datasets.
- Leveraging your experience with tools like dbt, Snowflake, or Databricks to modernise the existing data platform.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency with Azure Data Platform: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL DB.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL.
- Experience with Databricks, dbt, or Snowflake (at least one is essential).
- Understanding of Medallion Architecture, Delta Lake, and data modelling principles such as Kimball methodology.
- Familiarity with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and REST APIs.
- Strong data wrangling, transformation, and orchestration experience.
- A cooperative mindset and ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical teams.
