Infrastructure Engineer - Contract
About the Organisation:
A well-established kiwi organisation with a mature infrastructure environment spanning on-premises and multi-cloud. The team is lean, technically strong, and works in close collaboration with a key managed services partner.
About the Role:
This role starts as a 4 week contract ideally in the 1st week of June, extending month on month with a genuine pathway to permanent conversion for the right person.
The intent is clear, this isn’t a short-term fill. The client wants someone who fits the team, hits the ground running, and earns the permanent role through their work when the time is right(if, desired).
You’ll be the 4th engineer in a small infrastructure team working across a hybrid environment that spans on-premises infrastructure and multi-cloud.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting and improving on-premises infrastructure, virtualisation, storage, hypervisors.
- Working across VMware, Citrix and Windows 365 environments.
- Contributing to Azure, AWS & GCP cloud workloads alongside the existing team
- Identifying and eliminating manual processes. Automation and scripting mindset essential
- Strengthening security controls and infrastructure reliability
... Skills and Experience:
- Available to start in June 2026.
- Solid hands-on infrastructure engineering experience across on-prem and cloud hybrid environments.
- Cloud migration experience
- Non-negotiable: Azure, AWS, and/or GCP, Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware
- Nice to have: Citrix, Virtualisation, IaC, Scripting, Oracle or Linux environment
- A genuine drive to automate — if you’re doing something manually twice, you fix it
