Senior Data Engineer
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data & Analytics Consultant to manage end-to-end data delivery for a leading data solutions consultancy in Auckland. This hands-on consulting role requires you to design, build, and optimise modern data platforms that enable advanced analytics and AI workloads. You will engage directly with clients to run discovery activities, facilitate workshops, and deliver scalable architectures that align technology with business objectives.
Key Duties
- Platform Development: Build, deploy, and optimise scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake, AWS, and Azure.
- Analytics Engineering: Maintain advanced dbt transformation frameworks, models, testing frameworks, and deployment pipelines.
- Architecture & Modelling: Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models using dimensional modelling (Kimball) and Data Vault techniques.
- Cloud Engineering: Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and establish automation through CI/CD pipelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Run discovery workshops, translate business requirements into technical blueprints, and provide trusted technical advice to clients.
Skills & Experience Required
- Core Experience: Experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Architecture.
- Technical Expertise: Significant hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-scale solutions with Snowflake and dbt in production environments.
- Data Modelling: Deep understanding of Kimball methodologies, star schemas, semantic modelling, and modern analytics architectures.
- Consulting Skills: Effective stakeholder management skills with proven experience running workshops and requirements gathering sessions.
- Desirable Extras: Industry certifications in Snowflake, dbt, AWS, Azure, or Terraform are highly regarded.
