Senior Data Migration Tester - Long-Term Contract
The Opportunity
We are looking for a high-calibre Senior Data Tester to join a massive digital transformation programme staggered over the next 18+ months. This is a stable, long-term engagement focused on migrating business-critical legacy systems into a modern Snowflake ecosystem.
This isn’t a standard testing role; you will be managing unique and complex code conversions across several business units that support essential banking processes. You will navigate technical complexities involving BI and Mainframe code (including COBOL rebuilds) while managing rigorous auditing standards and high-level SME engagement.
Role Details:
- Term: Through to mid-September 2027.
- Engagement: Weekly pay, Hybrid working
- Location: Auckland, Onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailored Testing Strategy: Analyze specific requirements for each unique conversion bundle and document priority testing scenarios.
- Migration Excellence: Lead the migration of BI and Mainframe code to Snowflake, owning complex data conversions across business units.
- Quality Governance: Lead defect triage, script analysis, and facilitate prioritized resolution and retesting.
- Auditing & Assurance: Manage tight documentation and auditing workflows to meet significant assurance review standards.
- Readiness & Go-Live: Conduct technical and business readiness checks to ensure seamless transitions for critical banking processes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Technical Depth: Strong understanding of data code, scripts, and programming in both BI and Mainframe environments.
- Snowflake Expertise: Proven track record in complex data migration projects and cloud-based data testing.
- Analytical Precision: Ability to work across multiple business units and synthesize unique testing requirements quickly.
- Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional skills in engaging business SMEs and facilitating execution, even in the face of business resistance to change.
- QA Leadership: Experience in high-governance environments (e.g., Banking/Finance) where audit trails and TSRs are mandatory.
