    WorkSafe New Zealand are now hiring a full-time permanent Technical Specialist in Hazardous Substances based in the North Island. As a Technical Specialist you’ll support the operations of the Technical Programmes and Support team, providing specialist knowledge and technical advice round hazardous substances regulations and safety issues. You’ll provide specialist guidance and education to internal and external stakeholders and promote continuous improvement in safety, standards and quality in New Zealand workplaces. You will also: Promote and undertake environmental scans Provide technical advice to internal planning forums and project teams Contribute to targeted technical programmes Coach and mentor inspectors Provide recommendations to key stakeholders Contribute to the development and delivery of training programmes for staff The ideal person for this role will have strong technical and practical knowledge and experience of hazardous substances regulations and have the ability to work harmoniously across an organisation and build positive relationships. You will also have the following skills and experiences: Experience in applying specialist knowledge in a regulatory environment Collaborative with the ability to build strong positive professional relationships An ability to coach and mentor others Sound knowledge of Hazardous Substance health and safety legislation and regulation An ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and concise manner A tertiary qualification in an area of specialty or equivalent experience based on knowledge An ability to obtain, hold and maintain a HSWA ID card.
